New employee enrollment

Joining the plan is straightforward. Here's what to expect, and we're happy to walk through any step with you.

  1. Receive your enrollment materials

You'll get plan information and enrollment instructions when you become eligible. If you haven't received them, contact the team below.

  2. Choose your contribution

Decide how much of each paycheck to contribute and whether to make pre-tax or Roth contributions. Not sure which fits your situation? That's a good first meeting topic.

  3. Select your investments

Pick from the plan's investment lineup. A risk tolerance assessment can help you land on a mix you're comfortable with.

  4. Name your beneficiaries

Designate who would receive your account. Keep this current after major life events like marriage or the birth of a child.

  5. Meet with the team

Schedule a short meeting to confirm your setup and ask questions. It's included in your plan's services at no cost to you.

Financial planning resources

As part of our service commitment, Coresential employees have access to a suite of planning tools that goes well beyond the 401(k). Contact the team to get set up with any of these.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enroll in the 401(k) plan?

You'll receive enrollment instructions when you become eligible. Follow the steps in the enrollment section above, and reach out to the team if you'd like help at any point.

How much can I contribute?

The IRS sets annual contribution limits, and they typically change each year. Employees age 50 and older can usually make additional catch-up contributions. Contact the team for the current limits and what makes sense for your situation.

What's the difference between pre-tax and Roth contributions?

Pre-tax contributions lower your taxable income today, and you pay taxes when you withdraw in retirement. Roth contributions are taxed now, and qualified withdrawals in retirement are tax-free. Which is better depends on your current and expected future tax picture—a good topic for a quick meeting or a Holistiplan tax review.

Can I change my contribution amount later?

Yes. You can adjust your contribution rate, and many employees revisit it after a raise or at year-end. The team can walk you through how to make the change.

I have a 401(k) from a previous employer. What are my options?

You generally have several options, including leaving it where it is or rolling it over. Each has trade-offs, so talk with the team before deciding—they'll help you compare your options.

Does meeting with the team cost me anything?

No. One-on-one meetings and the planning resources on this page are part of the services provided to Coresential's plan.

Who do I contact with questions?

Rob Coleman at rcoleman@sfsfirm.com or 813-868-6901, or email ask@sfsfirm.com. See Your Team for full contact details.
